Product Name :
Rabbit anti Human Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), LDLR-binding epitope blocking

Description :
| Isotype IgG | Product Type Polyclonal Antibody | Units 100 µg | Host Rabbit | Species Reactivity Human | Application ELISA Western Blotting

Background :
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide derived from the human PCSK9 protein reported to block PCSK9-LDLR interaction.

Source :
This anitbody is made to an epitope that is reported to block the PCSK9-LDLR (low density lipoprotein receptor) interaction. PCSK9 binds to the EGF-A domain of the LDLR and signals LDLR degradation. Reduced LDLR levels result in decreased LDL (low density lipid) metabolism leading to hypercholesterolemia. Additioanlly, PCSK9 may be implicated in the differentiation of cortical neurons and may also play a role in cholesterol homeostasis. Defects in PCSK9 gene are the cause of familial hypercholesterolemia 3 (FH3). The protein is thought to play a central role in cholesterol homeostais Synonyms: Proprotein convertase PC9, Subtilisin/kexin-like protease PC9, Neural apoptosis-regulated convertase 1 <

Antibodies are immunoglobulins secreted by effector lymphoid B cells into the bloodstream. Antibodies consist of two light peptide chains and two heavy peptide chains that are linked to each other by disulfide bonds to form a “Y” shaped structure. Both tips of the “Y” structure contain binding sites for a specific antigen. Antibodies are commonly used in medical research, pharmacological research, laboratory research, and health and epidemiological research. They play an important role in hot research areas such as targeted drug development, in vitro diagnostic assays, characterization of signaling pathways, detection of protein expression levels, and identification of candidate biomarkers.
